Book Arts: Scraps to Sketchbooks

Ready to make a sketchbook that is unique to your personal practice? This introductory class explores the french link bookbinding stitch in pursuit of making a one-of-a-kind customizable sketchbook. Fill it with your preferred paper or a variety of papers. A great way to repurpose extra paper and scraps while negating the need to purchase sketchbooks. Students will leave with a finished sketchbook.

Ceramic Workshop: Thrown and Altered Forms

Learn to throw basic forms and then how to alter them into something extraordinary! Planters into hedgehogs, mugs into foxes, there are endless possibilities. Return to glaze you pieces and bring them to life on the 31st. All pottery will be fired and ready to be picked up two weeks after the class.

Ceramic Bubble Glazing

Bubble glazing is quirky twist on traditional glazing. We will be making “bubble glaze” out of different glazes and applying them to vases and bowls to create unique designs. It is easy to learn and creates fun and unique marbled patterns every time. All pottery will be clear coated, fired and ready to be picked up two weeks after the class.

Making Paintbrushes with Natural Materials

Learn how to create your own paintbrushes using a variety of natural materials. Crafting your own paintbrushes allows you to create a wide range of textures and qualities with your brushstrokes. Students will create the handle from clay or bamboo shoots and experiment with textures created by an assortment of natural bristles.

Making beautiful sounds and playing a few songs with clay can be fun.  In this class we will learn how to turn mud into musical magic!  Clay will be shaped into spherical forms and then strategic holes will be placed to create sound.  Clay forms will be ?red and then decorated with stains and paints.
