Introduction to Cartooning: the Basics of Illustrating and Cartooning with Procreate

Join New York based visiting artist Dicus in this exciting design workshop. This class is designed for beginning illustrators and cartoonists. Students will learn some of the basics of cartooning, from thinking of ideas and drawing finished drafts to pitching and selling your work. We will also learn about a handful of the many features of Procreate, a powerful and affordable app for helping you to realize your comedic vision.

Spring Break Art Camp: Young Artist Series Digital Animation
CANCELED: Kids ages 11 and up will have fun playing on the Museum’s iPad Pros as they work on story-boarding, character design and animation in this five day camp. Students will also have an opportunity to explore and sketch using the iPads in the Museum’s galleries while looking for inspiration for their own work. A snack and all materials are included with registration.

Introduction to Lightroom Classic
CANCELED: Adobe Lightroom Classic CC is quickly becoming the go to application for photographers of any experience level, but so many photographers are not using the application to the fullest potential. There are also features of Lightroom Classic CC that are best left to other applications, and those work arounds will be shown in class. From tethered shooting to advanced Develop module techniques, this class with get new Lightroom Classic CC users up and running, and advanced users taking advantage of features that will save time, and reduce frustration.

Students need to have a laptop with Lightroom Classic already install on the computer before class starts. Older versions of Lightroom will work, Lightroom 5 & 6, but some new features will not be available to students. Do be aware that there are two versions of Lightroom currently offered by Adobe, Lightroom , and Lightroom Classic. This class will be taught using the Classic version. If you have any questions please do not hesitate in asking. Files for the class will take up 6-8 GB of space, and students should have that amount of space free on their computers if they want to work along with the instructor.

Documenting the First Year
A fun one day workshop for parents on how to document the first year of a baby’s life using available tools (smartphones and tablets). From day one to the 12 month, I will give you the skills and a series of projects to capture the adorable, difficult and fleeting first year. With photo, video, and audio, you will create heartwarming digital projects that will become family heirlooms shared for generations to come.

The Story of Us – Telling Your Family’s Story with Your Smartphone

A modern approach to scrapbooking. This multimedia workshop will teach you how capture and take all the digital content on your smartphone – Photos, Videos, Audio – and funnel it into beautiful shareable digital projects and tangible heirlooms. This class is for ANYONE with a smartphone and loved ones. You will become the keeper and the teller of your family’s stories. You will learn the basics of lighting, composition, smartphone photography/video, editing, telling audio stories, and creating really cool tangible memories (books, timecapsules, and things you can actually hold in your hand). Let’s get all those photos and videos off of your phone and make some memories!

Digital Design for Leatherwork
Students will learn how to use iPads programs to create their own digital designs with the goal of making a simple hand stitched book cover out of leather. The finished book cover will display their original design. This class is great for those with leather or scrapbooking interest who want to learn how to create their own vector designs to use with laser or paper cutters (Cricut, ect.).
