Learning to Draw the Figure

Tuesdays, January 16 – February 13 / 6 – 9 pm

Students will be taught traditional drawing techniques while focusing on anatomy, structure and form. Classroom instruction and drawing exercises without a love model will happen in weeks one and two. The final three weeks of class will include classroom instruction and drawing from a live nude model. Individual instruction and critique are fundamental to this course. Beginning students will learn the fundamentals while returning students will be able to improve on and refine their skill.

Colored Pencil Techniques

Saturdays, January 20 – February 3 / 9 am – 12 pm

Learn how to use colored pencils to create vibrant realistic drawings! This course is designed to teach students how to blend colored pencils so that drawings aren’t grainy or textured. Through a variety of techniques students will learn how to mix colors, render details and utilize unique colors to draw a colorful still life and self-portrait.

Drawing: Back to Basics

Thursdays, January 25 – February 22 / 1 – 4 pm

Students will enjoy this introductory level course designed to teach basic drawing techniques including rendering, figure drawing, and perspective. This class is designed to provide a foundation for drawing, teaching students how to realistically draw objects, environments and people. Each class will focus on different drawing techniques and strategies, beginning with rendering and shading objects in perspective to drawing a live model.

Weekly brief demonstrations will encourage individuals to work through drawing challenges and explore media of choice in this open studio format class.   Both male and female clothed models will be posed and drawn in this four-session class.
