Sewing: BBQ Apron

Make a custom, reversible apron for Father’s Day. With pockets on both sides this apron is a win for all BBQing and cooking needs. Pick your own cotton fabric that screams “DAD” and leave with your own custom apron. Students can bring in their own machine or use one in the Museum School and under the guidance of the instructor, create a unique BBQ apron for DAD!

Note: The museum has a few Singer Brilliance 6180 machines for student use, but if you would prefer to bring your own machine, you are more than welcome.

Sewing: Sewing Machine Cover

Bring your sewing machine or use a sewing machine at the museum school and make a custom cover for your personal machine. In this 4 hour workshop, under the guidance of the instructor, students will have the opportunity of creating a fun, colorful and functional custom sewing machine cover.

Introduction to Western Paper Marbling

This popular marbling workshop will introduce students marbling techniques on fabric that can be used for covering books and boxes. Students will begin the day by working on basic marbling skills. With the instructor’s guidance, they will work on new patterns with an eye for nuance. The main focus will be on marbling fabric to create book cloth, and techniques for other textile uses will also be discussed. At the end of the day, the instructor will demonstrate how to prepare pieces of marbled cloth for use in bookbinding. Students will leave with their own stack of 15 marbled fabric pieces. All materials provided with registration.

Create a one of a kind Easter candy bag! Make one or several carrots as the perfect Easter treat bag in this two-hour class. The instructor will walk you through the process while you learn basic serger skills while building on your own sewing skills with this easy construction bag.

In this workshop, students will make a custom outdoor pet jacket or vest. The instructor will help you step by step from taking the correct measurements to bring to class to picking the right fabric. All garments will have a waterproof exterior, reflective stripe for nighttime visibility and soft fleece liner. Basic sewing machine skills needed.
