CANCELED: Students new to landscape photography or those looking to sharpen their skills will enjoy this introductory level course. The first day of class will be spent in the classroom exploring camera gear and functions along with the tips and tricks to create dynamic landscape images. Students will review composition techniques along with shooting in different times of day. The second class will meet offsite to shoot in the field during the transition from the golden hour to twilight where students will apply the techniques learned to create their own artistic vision.

Take your photographs to the next level by learning proper composition and photography techniques. Students will learn the different ways to compose landscapes, still lifes and people, while also learning different techniques such as High Dynamic Range (HDR), panoramic stitching, long exposures, proper posing for people, working with photo filters and lighting terminology.

No matter if you shoot film or digital, mastering the camera’s exposure is key to great photography.This course will take photographers through the basics of the exposure triangle, and help eliminate any confusion on how to work with Shutter Speed, Aperture and ISO. Class will also cover how lenses play a role in not only composition, but also the exposure of the file. Other technical details like exposure theory, metering modes, and special shooting circumstances, like long exposure and bracketing, will be covered as well.

This is a great course for photographers to continue their education on exposure, or a great jumping off point for those just getting into photography, but are looking for something beyond a beginner course.

CANCELED: Adobe Lightroom Classic CC is quickly becoming the go to application for photographers of any experience level, but so many photographers are not using the application to the fullest potential. There are also features of Lightroom Classic CC that are best left to other applications, and those work arounds will be shown in class. From tethered shooting to advanced Develop module techniques, this class with get new Lightroom Classic CC users up and running, and advanced users taking advantage of features that will save time, and reduce frustration.

Students need to have a laptop with Lightroom Classic already install on the computer before class starts. Older versions of Lightroom will work, Lightroom 5 & 6, but some new features will not be available to students. Do be aware that there are two versions of Lightroom currently offered by Adobe, Lightroom , and Lightroom Classic. This class will be taught using the Classic version. If you have any questions please do not hesitate in asking. Files for the class will take up 6-8 GB of space, and students should have that amount of space free on their computers if they want to work along with the instructor.

This multimedia workshop will teach you how capture and take all the digital content on your smartphone – Photos, Videos, Audio – and funnel it into beautiful shareable digital projects and tangible heirlooms. This class is for ANYONE with a smartphone and loved ones. You will become the keeper and the teller of your family’s stories. You will learn the basics of lighting, composition, smartphone photography/video, editing, telling audio stories, and creating really cool tangible memories (books, timecapsules, and things you can actually hold in your hand). Join us for a truly unique experience learning how to photograph hot air balloons at The Great Reno Balloon Race! Get ready to take great photographs of the glow show, dawn patrol and the mass ascension of balloons. Beginning and Intermediate photographers will enjoy this two day introduction to shooting hot air balloons. Class will begin on Thursday at the E.L. Cord Museum School for three hours to go over the basics of shooting with a DSLR Camera. Class will meet a second time at 5 am at the visitor tent at Rancho San Rafael so students can practice photographing the balloons with instructor assistance. The final session will be at 1 pm that same day, at the museum, to go over the photographs students took at the park.
