Join E.L. Cord Museum School instructor, Jerry Stinson, in a fun and casual setting exploring basic drawing materials. Weekly drop-in drawing sessions inside the newly renovated E.L. Cord Museum School will give participants of all ages an opportunity to experiment with a variety of dry media, sketch from arranged still lifes or to draw freely. Tahoe Rim Trail Association Hike: Van Sickle Bi-State Park/Kingsbury Grade

Explore scenic locations in a series of guided hikes presented in partnership with the Tahoe Rim Trail Association and the Nevada Museum of Art. Long-time Museum docent, experienced trail builder and crew leader, Bob Anderson will reveal and discuss scenic highlights along the trail as they relate to the artists and artworks featured in the exhibition Tahoe: A Visual History. Pre-registration is required. Registration closes three-days in advance of the scheduled hike.

Van Sickle Bi-state Park/Kingsbury Grade: Group will meet in Van Sickle Bi-state park at the trailhead. TRTA van will shuttle group to the Kingsbury South trailhead. A 3.5 mile (mostly downhill) hike will include discussions on the history of Kingsbury Grade and the Van Sickle family.

SOLD OUT: Tahoe RimTrail Association Hike: Donner Summit

Explore scenic locations in a series of guided hikes presented in partnership with the Tahoe Rim Trail Association and the Nevada Museum of Art. Long-time Museum docent, experienced trail builder and crew leader, Bob Anderson will reveal and discuss scenic highlights along the trail as they relate to the artists and artworks featured in the exhibition Tahoe: A Visual History. Pre-registration is required. Registration closes three-days in advance of the scheduled hike.

Donner Summit: Group will meet at the Pacific Crest Trail trailhead on old US40. A 3/4 mile hike will lead the group to a scenic overlook of Donner Lake. Hikers will look at the work of Albert Bierstadt, Thomas Hill, Timothy O’Sullivan and will enjoy learning more about the history of Donner Pass and Donner Lake. We will explore the areas that the artists referenced did their work, then hike another 3/4 mile to see the site-specific installation “Circle” by Richard Long.”

SOLD OUT: Tahoe Rim Trail Association Hike: Mt. Rose Wilderness

Long-time Museum docent, experienced trail builder and crew leader, Bob Anderson will reveal and discuss scenic highlights along the trail as they relate to the artists and artworks featured in the exhibition Tahoe: A Visual History. Mt. Rose Wilderness: Group will meet at Mt. Rose Summit parking lot. TRTA will provide truck and drive to assist with a car shuttle up to the service road radio towers. Hikers will enjoy a 2.5 mile downhill trek to Snow Pond. Discussions will include the history and photography of Dr. Frederic Church and the geology of the Mt. Rose area. A TRTA truck will meet the group at Snow Pond to shuttle hikers back up to retrieve vehicles.

Long-time Museum docent, experienced trail builder and crew leader, Bob Anderson will reveal and discuss scenic highlights along the trail as they relate to the artists and artworks featured in the exhibition Tahoe: A Visual History. Echo Summit/Echo Lake: Group will meet at the TRTA office in Stateline. Directions will be provided to registrants 2-3 days prior to hike. Hikers will look at and discuss the photography of Charles Weeds as it relates to Johnson Grade and Hawley Grade. A short drive to Echo Lake trail head will then start the 3-mile round trip hike and an exploration of the work of artist Anne Brigman and her work in Desolation Wilderness.
