Art High: Ceramics – Hand Building and Wheel Throwing Techniques

Monday – Friday, July 9 – 13 / 1:30 – 4:30 pm

Teens ages 13 – 18 will have fun exploring the tactile nature of clay.  Instruction will encompass basic hand building, throwing on the wheel, and sculpture.  In this 5 day intensive for teens, students will learn about the basics of pottery, glazing and the transformation of their pieces from the heat of kiln. This will be a fun and educational class.  All works will be fired in the Museums’ kiln. All materials are included.

Introduction to Acrylic Painting Techniques – Part II

Tuesdays, March 27 and April 3 / 1 – 4 pm

This class is offered as an two week extension to the February/March 2018 Acrylic Painting Techniques class. Students will continue to evolve their acrylic painting techniques and improve on their skills.

This workshop will introduce students marbling techniques on fabric. Students will begin the with an introduction to the materials and techniques of classical European Marbling. Each student will have their own marbling station with ample paints, pre-primed paper and fabric on which to experiment. Pietro will demonstrate the steps to create classical patterns as well as your own uniquely inspired designs. Finished marbled fabric can be employed for a myriad of uses, and with proper care will be colorfast for decades. Students will leave with their own stack of 15 marbled fabric pieces. All materials provided with registration.
