Mindfulness – paying attention, being aware – can enrich writing for aspiring writers, students, and more practiced authors. In this class, students will have an opportunity to try out a variety of writing tools and experiences to see what resonates. Students will also leave this class with several starts in their journals, several ideas to help move writing forward, and several ways to be as mindful as possible as one writes, which will help writing be more rewarding and rich. Book Arts: Intro to Photo Book Binding
Making a photo book is a great way to immortalize photos into a beautiful handmade object. We take hundreds of photos a year but rarely see them outside of a digital screen. In this class, students will learn basic bookbinding techniques to create a small handmade photo book of printed photos utilizing the drum leaf book structure that allows for each spread to open up completely and lay flat. All supplies are provide.
Students should come to class with 10-20 printed photos, printed on photo paper, all the same size and orientation (horizontal, vertical, or square), and no larger than 6″ on the longest dimension. If you don’t have your own photos printed, you’ll be able to make a blank book that you can add photos to later.
