iPhone Photography: Shooting Techniques, Editing and Printing

Learn how to shoot well composed photos using your iPhone! With the fast-growing quality of cell phone cameras, photography has become a much more accessible form of art. This class will go over the fundamentals of composition, lighting, and an editing workflow specific to the iPhone software, as well as printing 1 – 2 4×6 images directly from your phone. Although this class is based around the iPhone software, other smartphones are welcomed as the fundamentals of photography will still apply.

Young Artist Series: Intro to Digital Painting

Teens 12 – 15 will learn the basics and versatility of procreate to produce their digital painting through form, color and line. Using a photo reference, the instructor will breakdown the steps to convert a photograph to a digital work of art.

Spring Break Art Camp: Intro to Printmaking

Contemporary block printing is an exciting, economical, and accessible alternative to traditional woodblock printmaking. Printmaking can be easily printed at home with little set-up. Each day students will learn a new style and technique of printmaking focusing on various tools and methods that can be applied in the medium of printmaking. Images and drawings will be supplied but students are welcome to bring in photographs, images from magazines, or drawings for inspiration. All other materials such as inks, paper, blocks, and carving tools are provided and included with your registration along with a snack mid-camp.

The Art of Meditation

Meditation is a technique for inner peace and wellness. During this time of increased conflict and stress in our world, it is more important than ever to maintain our inner balance. Meditation can be a cornerstone of a healthy, happy, productive life. Everyone can do it. This class is taught by an expert who has over 30 years of experience helping people just like you. It does not require concentration or any special skill. You will learn different techniques each week that you can take home and use on your own. All are welcome, from first-timers to advanced students.

Spring Break Teen Art Camp: Digital Art and Illustration

Teens ages 12 – 15 will explore the basics of Procreate on the Museum’s iPad Pros as they work on storyboarding, character design and animation in this spring break camp. Students will also have an opportunity to explore and sketch using the iPads in the Museum’s galleries while looking for inspiration for their own work.

Hand Painted Decorative Eggs

Inspired by her Czechoslovakian heritage, instructor Iva Neveux will introduce students to basic painting techniques to create beautiful decorative eggs. Each student will create two hand-painted eggs using combinations of dots, lines, dashes and curves. All materials included with registration.

In this class, students will further develop basic drawing skills through the introduction of additional drawing media and techniques. There will be a focus on space, light and form and how they interact with the picture plane and affect the content in a drawing.
