Introduction to Western Paper Marbling

This popular marbling workshop will introduce students marbling techniques on fabric that can be used for covering books and boxes. Students will begin the day by working on basic marbling skills. With the instructor’s guidance, they will work on new patterns with an eye for nuance. The main focus will be on marbling fabric to create book cloth, and techniques for other textile uses will also be discussed. At the end of the day, the instructor will demonstrate how to prepare pieces of marbled cloth for use in bookbinding. Students will leave with their own stack of 15 marbled fabric pieces. All materials provided with registration.

Watercolor: Open Studio

This intermediate level open studio class is designed for returning students and experienced students. Students should have a personal work in progress to work towards completing in this fun and social series. Each class will begin with a short lesson addressing a challenge or technique followed by open studio time to continue work on personal projects. Instructor will be on hand to assist with challenges, offer critique, instruction, and encouragement.

  • Your personal watercolor pallet
  • 2 HB Pencils

  • Pad of Arches 140# cold press watercolor paper

Students will explore the amazing world of kiln-formed glass art by utilizing clear and colored flat glass, along with various tools and techniques. Learn more about the process of designing, cutting, melting, and kiln-forming the glass. No experience needed!

Students will focus on:

1. Safety and material practices are covered and emphasized.

2. Techniques for handling glass, using tools, and operating equipment. 

3. Participants will learn how to create fused glass forms while exploring various techniques, applications, and styles. 

4. Students will have open studio time to create their own work after learning the basics.
