Back to School Night for Educators 2024

Nevada’s PreK-12 educators are invited to a special in-person back-to-school night. Enjoy access to the Museum’s exhibitions, a DJ, small bites and a bar. Participate in hands-on activities and a raffle.

Education providers will be present to share teaching resources, including Discovery Education, Envirolution, The Holland Project, Keep Truckee Meadows Beautiful, Nevada Math, Nevada Museum of Art, Reno Philharmonic, Sierra Nevada Journeys, University of Nevada Reno Art Department, and Washoe Co. Library System.

FREE for PreK-12 educators. Advanced registration required.

Art Afternoon: Workshop and Social for Seniors

Seniors are invited to spend the afternoon at the Museum. Enjoy a guided tour and a studio art class. Monthly tours and projects are designed for participants of all levels of experience and offer an engaging and interactive experience. 

Senior Art Afternoon will be hosted in-person in the E.L. Cord Museum School. Advanced registration is required and space is limited. Monthly sessions are offered on the second Thursday and the second Friday of the month. Tour and project will be the same for the Thursday and Friday offerings, but change monthly.

New exhibitions, community collaborations, guest performances and monthly themes rotate in this engaging series of monthly programs.

Join Museum volunteer docents for a discussion of the book The Yield by Tara June Winch, making connections to the current exhibition, We Were Lost in Our Country, and artists featured at the Museum. Participants should have completed the book prior to meeting. Register online for guiding questions that will be discussed at the book club. Arrive early to place a lunch order with the Café! Space is limited, advanced reservations are recommended.

Educators are invited to these FREE monthly informative in-person roundtables which provide participants an opportunity to interact with art and each other. A hands-on workshop directed by Museum Educators will be integrated into each meeting. Meetings in the Museum allow a different exhibition to become the focus for discussion to support children’s learning through creative play in diverse early childhood settings. It is a time for uncommon conversations.
