In-Person Educator Evening: Using Portraiture to Explore History

Ben Aleck, is a lifelong artist, educator, and enrolled member of the Pyramid Lake Paiute Tribe (Kooyooe Tukadu/cui-ui fish eaters). Born in Reno and raised on the Reno-Sparks Indian Colony (RSIC), Aleck’s paintings, illustrations, and prints give visual form to Indigenous stories. Join Curator of Learning and Engagement, Megan Bellister, as she explores how to use portraits by Aleck to deepen interdisciplinary connections between art and history. 

Educator Evenings are a FREE professional development series hosted virtually offering state-approved professional development hours for participation. Professional development hours are available for participating in the Educator Evenings and issued upon request.
